128 Child Marriages Prevented in Kalaburagi District in Just One Year through Campaign.

The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), in collaboration with Margadarshi Society, has undertaken an impactful campaign across Kalaburagi district to combat child marriage. Between April 2024 and March 2025, the initiative successfully prevented 128 child marriages.

Launched in December 2024, the campaign has engaged 450 volunteers to raise awareness about the harmful effects of child marriage and educate communities about its legal implications.

Speaking at a press conference, DCPU Child Protection Officer Ms. Manjula Patil and Mr. Anandraj, Director of Margadarshi Society, emphasized that raising social awareness is key to eradicating child marriages. They highlighted the continued efforts of the DCPU and the Child Welfare Committee in this direction.

According to Mr. Anandraj, the 128 prevented cases include:

  • 26 in Jewargi taluk
  • 18 in Chincholi
  • 17 in Kalaburagi Rural
  • 14 each in Aland and Chittapur
  • 13 in Afzalpur
  • 11 in Sedam
  • 9 in Kalaburagi city
  • 6 in Shahabad

This campaign stands as a significant step toward protecting children’s rights and ensuring a safer future for them.
