Kalaburagi: Spread across 17 acres near Gundagurthi village in Chittapur taluk, Lumbini Park has become a refreshing green escape for visitors. Developed under the guidance of district in-charge minister Priyank Kharge, the park features lush greenery, ornamental vines, a small stream, and eco-friendly amenities.
Located around 25 km from Kalaburagi city on the Sedam road, the project was developed with ₹2.14 crore funding — ₹97 lakh from the Forest Department and ₹1.17 crore from the District Mineral Foundation (DMF).
Highlights of the park include:
- Over 2,000 saplings of nearly 50 native species.
- A Miyawaki-style forest for dense urban afforestation.
- A butterfly forest shaped like a butterfly, home to 51 butterfly species, with nectar and host plants sourced from Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh.
- Animal statues for a zoological feel.
- Open-air theatres, food zones, clean drinking water, and separate toilets.
Minister Priyank Kharge said: “Lumbini Park is provided with the necessary basic facilities. More amenities will be added as per demand.”
Deputy commissioner B. Fouzia Tarannum noted that over 100 visitors arrive daily, with numbers increasing on weekends and holidays.
